What is Personal Training?
New to training or not, our coaches are here to help educate, motivate, and develop their clients (you) in a variety of ways to achieve your desired goals. This can be based at your home, within a gym or outside and we will help you develop the correct techniques for lifts to increase your confidence and competency, or to even improve your understanding of different training methods.
Personal training is an exercise-based training method that anyone can access with online training or 1-to-1 sessions depending on your budget. You will have a trainer/coach to design your programs around you, your lifestyle, and your goals. They will help you make those goals; they will help motivate you, they will monitor you and overall, they are invested in your success. Personal training can help you lose weight, lose body fat, gain muscle, gain strength, increase mobility, improve cardiovascular output, improve nutrition or a combination of the above. We always recommend you have a chat with a trainer regarding what way of training may be best for you, so if you are in any doubt, send us an email.
Overall personal training can give people who are new to training a great way to start, which will help develop the appropriate techniques and understanding of what you are doing and why. If you are a more experienced to training, it can help you to develop new training methods, education and develop a structure of training which can give you consistent progression. New to training or not, you trainer/coach will be there to help keep you focused on your goal and give you the motivation you need to stay consistent.
How can Personal Training benefit you?
Personal training can have many benefits from physical and mental health, to increase chance of achieving your goals and changes to your lifestyle that will stay with you for a very long time in order to live with a high quality of life. The benefits of exercise in general can be seen on the NHS website (Benefits of Exercise - NHS).
With training and development through personal training many health risks can be reduced such as cardiovascular, sleep apnea, obesity, chronic disease whilst increasing function, preventing diseases and ameliorate the symptoms of aging (Dobrosielski et al., Anon.). Training may also help reduce anxiety, social anxiety and depression through building intrinsic motivation and self-worth (Anderson et al., 2013; Stonerock et al., 2015).
Other than just the health benefits, personal training has been shown to increase the results in strength, exercise intensity, technical ability and increased overall success rate of the clients than if you trained unsupervised (Gentil and Bottaro.). This is also the case for those that already have training experience (Shalfawi, ; Mazzetti et al., 2000). New or experienced, personal training can help you achieve your goal and keep you motivated for longer, hopefully forever. With supervised training, you get live feedback, motivated coaches, the correct intensities, and better education to how your body reacts to exercises in relation to your goal.
There are further benefits, such as: Increased knowledge of exercise, anatomy, biomechanics, adaptations and why it is all worthwhile. Personal training should, and will be personal here at Evolution SBP Ltd. We strive to set the new standard for personal trainers and client’s expectations, whilst using your feedback to help us evolve as well. We want all our clients to reap all the above benefits and have a great time doing so.
Setting your Goals.
Be SMARTER with your goal setting
S Be Specific. Your goal needs to provide you with clarity and give you a concise aim as to where you are going with your objectives. Ask yourself, what do I want to achieve?
M Make your goals Measurable by creating a timeline. When do I want to achieve this goal? How will I know when I have accomplished this goal?
A Your goals need to be Achievable. Is it feasible for you to achieve those goals in the timeframe you have set? We all like to think we can achieve big goals, however sometimes that is not the case. So don’t make your goal unachievable but make sure they are big enough to push yourself.
R Are your goals Relevant? Is the task worthwhile? Every goal should have a reason behind it. The smaller goals should be the building blocks and align to the larger/long term goals.
T Make sure you have Time limits and deadlines for your goals. Its harder to achieve your goals without time limits. Have a timeline of your smaller goals that time to larger goal. Set short (1month), medium (3month) and long term (6-12months) goals so you can track your progress along the way, giving you that extra motivation and accountability for the work you put in.
E Always find time to Evaluate. Evaluate continuously along the way with either daily, weekly, or bi-monthly, which ever you prefer. At EVOSBP we evaluate weekly. This is to make sure we are on target to achieving the goals that have been set and keep you focused on why you are doing all this work. This links to your specific goals - always remember why you started.
R This Review phase works with the evaluated aspect as the outcomes from the evaluation and the current goals will be revised to create new goals. set the next questions to answer: what is the next goal? What changes need to be made? How do we prevent setbacks?
Don’t be smart when making your goals, be SMARTER. Think about what you want and continuously evaluate and evolve.
Types of Training.
There are several ways to train. This can be based on frequency and volume of your training, the level of intensity, your current ability, and your goals. If you want some new inspiration and want to try something new in your program, then please have a look at just some of the types below to see if anything catches your eye and why not give it try:

(These are just some of the things we can offer, but there is loads more up our sleeve depending on your goal).
Above are just a few concepts that break off into many styles of training using various pieces of equipment and working at different intensities, different variation in session duration, sets, reps, load etc. Have a look at our social media platforms for different workout ideas.
